Otago Fish & Game Council Beginner Adults Fishing Classes 2026 - Mosgiel

Otago Fish & Game will be running free adult beginner fishing classes in Mosgiel before the start of the 2026/27 fishing season.

Each participant will attend one evening theory class and a day-time practical fishing session.

Topics will include freshwater sports fish species, legal methods, rods, lures, bait, knots, where to go fishing, licences, regulations, and more. 

Round up a group or bring your partners along for the fun! 

Pre-registration is required (maximum of 12 people per class). Please enrol before 27 August 2026.

Adult classes are for ages 18 and above, giving you the skills to teach our tamariki.

**Note: Please register for only ONE Theory class.**

Theory Classes

6.30pm – 8.30pm.          

Otago Fish & Game Council office, 5 Hazlett Rd, Mosgiel

Monday 31 August - Theory Class 1

Tuesday 1 September - Theory Class 2

Wednesday 2 September - Theory Class 3

Thursday 3 September - Theory Class 4 - Women only

Saturday 5 September - Practical Fishing Session

1pm – 2.30pm 

Southern Reservoir, Reservoir Road, Dunedin

* Field trip participants must first attend a theory class. *

All fishing equipment (rods and lures) will be provided.
